Contract overview
Since 2006 Pinnacle PSG began providing street scene and public realm services on behalf of Castle Point Borough Council. The services were previously provided directly by Castle Point who recognised that a partnership with Pinnacle would be a catalyst to improve performance and create efficiencies.
Our services in detail
- Grounds Maintenance and street cleaning:
- All of the borough's grass cutting
- Park maintenance
- Sports pitch maintenance
- Hedge cutting
- Verge cutting
- Cleaning:
- All of the borough's street cleaning - including 14 mains roads and 60 miles of residential road
- Cleaning of all shopping areas
- Litter picking
- Grave digging
The facts
- Created an extra 3 verge teams
- 100% green waste is recycled
- Increased verge rota: 19 days to 12 days
- Took on 45 Future Job Fund – 10 of which now have permanent employment with Pinnacle PSG
- £14,500 has been donated by Pinnacle PSG for the Rubbish Riot Day
- 89% of staff live in the borough
- In 2006, 40 staff TUPE transferred
Contract performance
- Grass cutting frequency improved from every three weeks to every 12 days
- Street cleaning frequency improved from every three weeks to every 12 days
- Size of seasonal workforce reduced from 40 at the start of the contract to 14
- Measured by the government’s street cleansing standard (NI195) (the lower score if the better result) Castle Point improved from 13% at the start of the contract to 3%
- In 2004 were rated ‘poor’ by the audit commission for its public services, in 2007 after Pinnacle PSG took over the street scene and public realm contract the audit commission rated the services to ‘good’ – the first local authority to make such a improvement over a three year period
