Environmental issues have never been higher on the corporate agenda. More legislation than ever before has been created to cover areas such as carbon neutral emissions, energy efficiency and sustainable disposal of waste. Increasingly, also, employees, investors and the wider community have high expectations of companies’ approaches to environmental and ethical issues. At Pinnacle, we recognise and acknowledge our clients’ and customers’ expectations on these issues and, in turn, we tailor our services and procedures to demonstrate sustainable business practices.
Sustainability is at the heart of Pinnacle’s ethos and we have set ourselves a series of challenging targets that we are part of our Environmental Management Policy. They cover our entire operation, are measurable and have clear timescales.
In creating this, our first step was to calculate our carbon footprint and put in place measurable targets to reduce our impact on the environment. Then, we put in place an internal Environmental Management Implementation Plan, focused on three areas: energy use; transport; and waste.
Energy use
Firstly, we pledge to use energy more efficiently. Secondly, we would explore with potential to implement renewable energy and low carbon generation technology.
Transport
There are two main factors which contribute to the efficiency of our company fleet: drivers and vehicles.
Waste
Our first step for this part of the plan was to conduct a waste audit on paper, packaging, water that we use. That completed, we are now developing a comprehensive waste management plan, focusing on reducing, reusing and recycling.
Environmental care and sustainability is very important to Pinnacle. Integrating green issues into business strategy and enabling staff to connect the work they do with the future of the planet is our response to climate change.
