Pinnacle PSG’s Director of Consulting and Interim, Aidan Rave, will this week join nine local government colleagues on a 10 day study tour of Japan. This annual event is designed to foster a deeper understanding of Japan, its culture and system of local government, and encourage the exchange of ideas and information.
The study tour will take place from the 25th July to the 4th August and is organised by the Japan Local Government Centre. The focus of this year’s study will be to look at policies affecting the environment and includes visits to Tokyo and Kyoto.
As well as learning about the relationships between central and local government in Japan the tour will involve visits to the key services provided by local government in that country.
Very much in keeping with the sustainability theme, the trip will also take in Kyoto, the birthplace of the Kyoto Protocol.
During the visit to the city, participants will spend a few days in the homes of local Japanese families to get a feel for the real Japan.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to share ideas and experiences between officials from both countries and learn from each other our approach to dealing with sustainability issues”, said Aidan Rave.
“The cultures of the countries and very different, but it will be interesting to see exactly what we have in common and how we can learn from the way we do things differently”, he added.
