Pinnacle puts the ping in ping-pong

29 July 2010

Hallfield Estate, this week, played host to one of a 100 summer ping-pong events launched across London, and over 20 youngsters turned up on the first day to have go. Pinnacle PSG and CityWest Homes agreed to provide a venue for the outdoor table and manage the event on the estate over the next four weeks.

Ping is a three year project designed to provide opportunities for the public to participate in social and competitive table tennis events, free of charge. Over the summer, ping-pong tables will pop up across London’s landmarks, squares, shopping centres, estates, offices and train stations and even the bats and balls are provided.

The scheme is financially supported by the National Lottery Fund and Sport England. The specially designed outdoor table will eventually be donated to a local youth organisation.

Anyone can use the table when it is free. Bats and balls are available from the local estate office from 10am until 8pm daily, but if you bring your own equipment you can use it whenever you like.

Pinnacle PSG Estate Manager, Fasil Raja, said at the launch of the tournament “We are really pleased that we have been given this table. It’s great that residents of all ages can come down and play for free. It is already proving to be a very popular addition to the estate as the turnout at today’s tournament showed”.
